Privacy Statement for EMCOM


EMCOM has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for the EMCOM site.

EMCOM collects personal/organizational data on several levels.
  • IN NO CASE DOES EMCOM COLLECT THIS INFORMATION FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES, NOR DOES IT MAKE INFORMATION COLLECTED AVAILABLE TO COMMERCIAL ENTITIES FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES. However, due to the nature of the Victim Search Locator, personal information can be re-displayed to persons seeking victim status/location information. This information will only be displyed to persons that have entered a minimum level of search criteria to demonstrate some familiarity with the person being sought.

  • Users of the Victim Locator System may themselves decide upon the amount of information they will provide to the system for identification purposes. The system requires only a Last Name and Telephone Number; normally data available in normal telephone directories is generally sufficient for matching purposes.

  • The provision of E-Mail addresses are optional; however, it is the methodology by which notification of matches is performed. Notification is the only purpose for which we use addresses from the Victim Locator System. If an E-Mail address is not provided, the user may still utilize the system, but must return periodically to manually re-search the system.

  • Data collected from persons/entities in relation to the victim locator system is maintained in a database for a period of 14 days, after which it is purged from the system. While this data is made available to other persons utilizing the Victim Locator Database who have demonstrated some knowledge of the individual being sought be entering a minimum level of search criteria information, and to registered emergency related agencies or organizations involved in or for the purpose of searching for or aiding victims of emergencies or disasters, EMCOM does NOT make this information available to other persons or entity outside the use of the system for any other purpose.

  • Our site uses "cookies" to "maintain state" in the system, for identification or authorization purposes, and for the reception of transmitted notifications/bulletins through the system while the user is on-line and utilizing our services. Cookies CAN NOT spread viruses.

  • Our site uses registration forms for Agencies, Organizations, and prospective Community Emergency Preparedness Coordinators to join and gain access to the network. We maintain this informtion for use by the system. We consider the information obtained on these forms confidential, and DO NOT SHARE IT with other companies or organizations for commercial purposes. However, the information may be shared with participating Emergency Management agencies, Emergency Response workers or others to identify individuals as an EMCOM Community Coordinators.

  • Our online surveys and/or forms may request demographic information (like their zip code, age, etc.) for use in participation reporting to other participating Emergency Management agencies and other internal reports.

  • EMCOM also gives users the following options for removing their information from our database, not receive future communications or to no longer participate in the program.
